PostHeaderIcon Old Memories and Past Dreams

I hope the scrap metal prices don’t go down between now and next week, because I have a lot of metal on my property that I want to get rid of soon. Some of it is old cars that I wanted to fix up at some point. My dream was to restore these old cars back to their original condition in working order, but I realized that such an endeavour would be way too expensive for me. The other metals came from old appliances that I wanted to scavenge for parts, but was too lazy to do. I guess there’s still time to do it, but I really don’t want to bother doing it.

Since I was a kid, I had a fascination with metal. I would take used soda cans and cut them open, and then I would fold the metal into various things. Once I made a ninja start out of a can and threw it into the wall. My mother was furious with me and gave me a spanking. When my father found out, he made me fix the dent I made in the wall, and then he took me to the garage to help him work on a project.

My father helped me hone my talent for working with metal. He showed me how to weld metal and shape it into whatever I wanted. One year we built a go cart entirely out of metal and drove it around the park. All of the other kids were jealous and wanted to take a ride on it. The kids told me I had the coolest dad ever, and I agreed with them. I wish I could recreate moments like that again, but those days are long gone, and next week, so will the metal that I had been storing.
